Best and Worst Games so far this Football Season

My previous two posts have been a reflection on the most disappointing N-F-L teams and the most surprising N-F-L teams this season but with this post, I am taking a different approach. For this post, I will be giving my take on the best games this N-F-L season and the worst games this N-F-L season.

Let’s first start off with the worst games this N-F-L season and to start things off, let’s go into the week one matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans. The reason why this matchup makes the list is due to the fact that it resulted in a tie and nobody won. Everyone that is a fan of the N-F-L or watches the N-F-L hates it when any game ends in a tie especially when both teams had ample opportunities to win the game. Even when you look back at this game, the Texans had complete control of this game having at one point at 20-to-3 lead entering the final quarter of action but they blew it and allowed the Colts to comeback and tie the game. The Colts even throughout this game lead the Texans in every stat during this game, whether it was total yards, passing yards, and rushing yards but somehow ended up only tying the game instead of winning a game that was easily winnable.

The next worst game that I want to include is quite possibly, one of the worst games in N-F-L history. That game that I will be discussing is the week five matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. The final score for this possible worst game in N-F-L history was 12-9 with the Colts winning the game. This game was so bad, that not even a single touchdown was scored by either offenses. The only points that were scored in this game were scored by both field goal kickers respectfully. The game was also so bad that Broncos where leaving the game just before the overtime period began and to be honest with you, I have never in all of my years watching football have ever seen fans leave a game before an extra period of football was being played but that happened during this game. The only real bright spot that this game really had was showing how good both of these defenses where in shutting down Matt Ryan for the Colts and Russell Wilson for the Broncos.

Now that we have discussed the wort games this N-F-L season, let’s move into some of the best games that have occurred this N-F-L season. To start off with the best game that I saw this season has to be the week six matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. You look at the history of these two the last couple of years and it has been historic, especially in the playoffs when the Chiefs have eliminated the Bills in the playoffs for the last two consecutive years. This game featured back and forth dominate play by both quarterbacks Josh Allen for the Bills with three touchdowns and no interceptions and Patrick Mahomes with two touchdowns and two interceptions. While both offenses were tremendous during this game in Kansas City, the main difference was the Bills defense by interceptions Patrick Mahomes not once, but twice, the second interception winning the game for the Buffalo. The win for Buffalo has the potential to give them confidence whenever they play each other in January.

Now let’s discuss in my opinion, the greatest game so far this N-F-L season. The greatest game that has occurred this year has to be the week ten matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills. This game had it all, whether it was clutch defensive stops, great quarterback play, and fantastic catches. This was a game that had a lot of marbles on the line. For Minnesota, this was a game right here to where they can prove that there 7 and 1 record is legit and for Buffalo, this a game to where they can keep pace with Kansas City for being the best team in AFC. The game ended up going into overtime with the Minnesota Vikings, pulling off the upset and beating the Bills in overtime coming back from down 27-to-10 to winning 33-to-30 in overtime making this win probably one of the biggest win in Vikings history. Also if you haven’t already, check out the Justin Jefferson fourth and eighteen catch, it will be the greatest catch that you will ever see.

Overall, this N-F-L season has had a lot of twist and turns. Whether it is certain N-F-L teams exceeding expectations or falling below expectations, or witnessing some of the N-F-L’s greatest games like the ones above and witnessing some of the worst games this N-F-L season as listed above. This N-F-L season has been one for the ages and will continue to get better, especially during the playoffs in January.

NFL Surprising and Disappointing Teams Through Nine Weeks

We are half way through the 2022 N-F-L season and boy oh boy are the twists and turns still upon us. Through nine weeks, we have a division leader in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that have more losses than wins, every team in the AFC East has more wins than losses, both the New York Jets and Giants have six wins through nine weeks and Geno Smith, the quarterback for the Seattle has them leading the NFC West with a remarkable 6 and 3 record. Now let’s get into two teams that have surprised me the most through nine weeks and teams that have disappointed me the most through nine weeks.

The first team that has surprised me the most so far through nine weeks is none other than the Seattle Seahawks. If you would have told me that the Seattle Seahawks would not only release their franchise linebacker in Bobby Wagner, but would also trade their franchise quarterback in Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos and have a winning after doing so, I would say that you are either a Seahawks fan, or that you are ridiculous for that statement. But the Seattle Seahawks have proven me wrong in every sense of the way. The craziest part is that the quarterback that is leading the Seattle Seahawks to this incredible 6 and 3 start is Geno Smith. The reason why the Seattle Seahawks are playing so well and why I even put them on this surprise list is for the fact the entire team is clicking on all cylinders. The defense is playing fantastic highlighted by great play from free safety Quandary Diggs, Geno Smith is surprisingly playing like a top ten quarterback this season, rookie Kenneth Walker III is coming into his own as the lead running back, and Pete Carrol is in the running for coach of the year. The Seattle Seahawks exemplifying all of this is why they are on my list for surprising team through nine weeks.

The next team that I am going to put on my surprising teams list is the Philadelphia Eagles. I know I put them on my surprising teams list last time through four weeks, but the Eagles have just continued to keep on winning. So far the Philadelphia Eagles are undefeated with an 8 and 0 record and with how the rest of their schedule looks, they could potentially pull off an undefeated record but it will be very hard to do. The Eagles are also a complete team like the Seahawks where everything is clicking on all cylinders, especially with quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver AJ Brown. That is the reason why the Eagles have made the list for my two surprising teams in the N-F-L.

Let’s now move onto the two most disappointing teams in the N-F-L through nine weeks.

One of the most disappointing teams so far through nine weeks has to be none other than the Green Bay Packers. The Green Bay Packers started off with such promise through four weeks but ever since week five against the New York Giants, the Packers have completely collapsed losing five straight games and have fallen to a 3 and 6 record and are nearly five games behind the Minnesota Vikings for first in the NFC North. The reason the Packers have been collapsing is everything. Whether that is poor offensive play by the wide receivers or Aaron Rodgers as well as bad play calls from Matt LaFleur, poor special teams play with muffed punts, and poor defense due to injuries and being tired due to a sputtering offense. The Packers at this point in the season have to decide whether they want to strive for a high draft pick or try and push for a wild card spot in a weak NFC conference. Lots of things will have to break the Packers way if they want an opportunity to make the playoffs, but that will all starts with the Green Bay Packers needing a desperate win against a really good 6 and 2 Dallas Cowboys game who look to win at Lambeau for their head coach Mike McCarthy who was a coach for the Green Bay Packers for 13 years.

The last team I want to highlight that has disappointed me the most so far through nine weeks has to be the defending Super Bowl Champion, Los Angeles Rams. The Rams before the season started had a lot of high expectations due to the fact that they won the Super Bowl in February and they brought back their core players like Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, Matthew Stafford, and Cooper Kupp while adding players like linebacker Bobby Wagner and Wide Receiver Allen Robinson but it is safe to say looking at their record of only three wins while losing five games is not the kind of start the Rams were expecting. I believe the main reason why the Rams are struggling this season has to be their poor offensive line play and that is due to one thing. That one thing was Andrew Whitworth retiring after the Super Bowl. The rams have failed to address the offensive line, thus resulting in Matthew Stafford struggling finding other weapons besides Cooper Kupp and their running game with Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson being absolutely horrible. The Rams even though they have a bad start still have an opportunity to turn their season around but it will take a lot for the Rams to be back into the playoff hunt and defend their championship.

Overall, this season has been incredible and many things have changed in the N-F-L since the last time I posted after four weeks of the N-F-L season.

NFL Quarter of the Season Surprising Teams and Disappointing Teams

We are one month into the new N-F-L season and boy has it been one of the most interesting starts to an N-F-L season I have ever seen. From weeks one to four, we have seen many highs for N-F-L teams and we have seen a lot of lows for certain N-F-L teams. One thing is for certain though, the N-F-L season is still young and there are plenty of teams that can turn it around after a slow start and there are also teams that start out hot to begin the first quarter of the season and then cool off towards the end of the season.

I want to start off by highlighting some teams that have surprised me the most through four weeks. One team that has definitely surprised me the most to start this season has got to be the Philadelphia Eagles. If you would have told me in the month of July that the Philadelphia Eagles not only traded for and signed wide receiver AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts will play like an M-V-P quarterback, the Eagles defense will be one of the best units in the league, and that the Eagles would be the only undefeated team left in the N-F-L through four weeks, I would tell you that you are out of your mind. But that is exactly what happened and the Eagles if they can keep this up, not only have a great chance to win there division, but to perhaps go on a deep playoff run in the month of January.

Another team that I want to highlight that is off to a surprising start that I did not see coming has to be the Miami Dolphins who are currently as of today three and one. The reason why I am shocked at their surging start is due to the fact that during the offseason, the Miami Dolphins had a lot of changes to the coaching staff and the roster as a whole. The Miami Dolphins have also had to deal a lot of scandals during the offseason and during the season. One of those scandals was former head coach Brian Flores filing a lawsuit against the Dolphins accusing them of intentionally paying to lose games. Another scandal that hit the Dolphins was tampering with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and former N-F-L head coach Sean Payton. After those scandals hit, the Dolphins managed to persevere into the N-F-L with a new head coach named Mike McDaniel and a new wide receiver who they traded for named Tyreek Hill, former Kansas City Chiefs receiver now Miami Dolphin. Overall, the Dolphins as of this point can be a good dark horse candidate for the playoffs in a loaded A-F-C conference, but, for the Dolphins to be good for the rest of the season, it will all be on their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

After naming my surprising teams so far this season, lets name some disappointing teams so far a quarter way into this young N-F-L season. One of those disappointing teams that have to be named has to be the Indianapolis Colts. The reason why I put the Indianapolis Colts on this list is not only due to how badly they finished last season, losing the final two games of the season to miss the playoffs but, through four weeks, the Colts have a record of one win, two losses, and one tie. Safe to say, the Colts are off to a slow start to begin this season. The other reason why the Colts have to be on the list is due to the fact that the reason why they traded for quarterback Matt Ryan was due to the fact that with Carson Wentz, they only won nine games and he struggled during that season. The Colts believed that with Matt Ryan, they could win more than nine games. But so far to this point, Matt Ryan is struggling at the quarterback position due to old age, bad offensive line play, and the overall team is struggling as a whole whether that is with playing against division opponents like the Jaguars and Titans or having to battle injuries to the likes of Michael Pittman jr and Shaquille Leonard.

The other team that I am disappointed with so far this season has to be the Las Vegas Raiders. The reason being is because before yesterday’s victory against the Denver Broncos, the Raiders were the only team besides the Houston Texans to not win a game so far this season. I am also disappointed in the Raiders due to the fact that after last season of winning ten games and making the playoffs with former head coach now special teams coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, Rich Bisaccia, they got even better by trading for one of the best receivers in the N-F-L named Davante Adams and hiring Josh McDaniels to be their head coach for this season. Even after all of those moves, the Raiders have one big problem and if they want to redeem themselves and be off the disappointing list, the defense has to get better and Derek Carr has to play like he did last year and will his teams to victory out of thin air.

This N-F-L season is very young and many things can change as the season goes on. But so far, teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins have surprised me the most while teams like the Indianapolis Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders have been disappointing to me.
